Why Organic?

The product line used in all of the spa services at Organic Skin & Body are completely natural and organic. By eliminating chemicals and promoting purity, Organic Skin & Body aims to provide you with a healthier spa experience.

Providing the skin with antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients not only helps repair damage but will also make you look & feel more youthful. Our Body Treatments lift the veil of dullness and dryness to restore hydrated silkiness to skin. Organic Skin & Body corrective skin care services and treatments will produce visible results without the need for harsh chemicals or surgery.

Éminence Organic Skin Care has been providing the beauty industry with Organic alternatives to skin care since 1958. With the Organic market growing rapidly due to increasing consumer demand for food, cosmetic and nutritional products, it is becoming more important to look for proof of certification to ensure validity of Organic and Natural claims.

European certification is known to have the strictest guidelines and organic regulations worldwide. Éminence Organic Skin Care is certified Organic by Biokontroll, the main certification organization in Hungary where most of our potent and active ingredients are grown.  Éminence Organic Skin Care is also certified by Demeter International which has been in use in Europe since 1928 and is still regarded as providing the highest standards for Organic products in the world. As a non-profit organization, their mission is to “improve the health of the planet and its people by providing certification of products whose ingredients are grown and processed according to the highest agricultural and environmental standards.” From farm to market, only those companies that consistently meet these standards will be certified by Demeter, and Éminence Organic Skin Care is counted as one of them.

Celebrating more than 50 years of organic practices is an achievement of which to be proud but creating products that are kind to the environment is even better. Éminence is committed to being the industry leader in keeping our planet green; since our inception in 1958, we have been using sustainable farming and green practices to create Organic products and are constantly looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint, from the harvest and production of products to how they are packaged and, finally, how they reach spa clients. We even enlist wind and solar power energy in the making of products, use recyclable packaging, vegetable-based inks in printing, FSC certified post-consumer recycled paper and our Beyond Organic line is created with Biodynamic® farming practices. We think Mother Nature would be proud!

If you’ve been keeping track you will notice that Éminence Organic Skin Care holds certifications for several national and international organic certifying bodies. It is clear that they take our promise to you and the Earth seriously and use organic and natural ingredients in every single one of our amazing skin care products.

The products available to purchase at Organic Skin & Body are the same products used in our treatments. They are natural & organic and great care is taken in selecting new products. They must be chemical free, pure and of the highest quality.

Understand the skin?

led3Skin is the largest organ of the body. It consists of three layers of tissues, the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous layer. The epidermis is the paper-thin outer layer of the skin. The outer layer of the epidermis consists of dead cells that are always flaking or washing off. These are replaced by new cells manufactured in the lower area of the epidermis, which move upward to the outside of the skin. As they do so, the cells harden and die. This cycle of cell production and replacement takes about 28 days.

The epidermis also contains melanocytes, the cells that contain melanin or the pigment that gives skin its color. Skin color is determined by the amount of melanin produced by these cells, not their number. The more melanin, the darker the skin.

The dermis, the middle layer of the skin, contains blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, sweat glands and oil glands. It makes up about 90 percent of the skin’s thickness and is made up of collagen and elastin fibers that give the skin strength and elasticity.

The subcutaneous layer, the deepest layer of skin, is mostly made up of fatty tissue. It also contains blood vessels and nerves. The fat insulates the body from extreme heat and cold and provides a cushion to protect the body from injuries.

By having a full understanding of how the skin works, reacts and changes, we as Aestheticians are able to help restore, protect and rebuild the skin from damage.
