How it works
What is an IPL photofacial?
IPL stands for intense pulsed light. Instead of a single laser wavelength, IPL delivers pulses of light across a range of wavelengths that target pigment and small blood vessels in the skin. It is used to reduce the appearance of sun spots, age spots, freckles, redness and broken capillaries.
- ConsultWe assess your skin and review your medications and recent sun exposure.
- PrepareYour provider cleanses the area and confirms the plan for your skin.
- TreatPulses of light are delivered across the area; many clients feel a quick snap, like a rubber band.
- Follow upYour provider recommends a series and spacing for your goals.
Face, body and combination plans
Choose a full or partial IPL photofacial, focus on the cheeks, nose, sides or a single spot, or treat sun-exposed skin on the neck, chest, back, arms, hands and upper thighs. ThreeForMe™ combines IPL with 1540 nm non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing, and Bright & Tight combines IPL with Forma RF skin tightening. Individual results vary.
How the light finds its target
IPL delivers bright pulses of filtered light that are absorbed by melanin in brown spots and hemoglobin in small vessels. Unlike a laser, which uses one wavelength, IPL emits a spectrum of light; filters narrow that spectrum to the concern being treated, which lets your provider address brown and red tones across a whole area in the same visit. Brown spots often look darker, like coffee grounds, for several days before flaking off, while redness and small vessels tend to fade gradually over the series.
Who it’s for
Who is a good candidate for an IPL photofacial?
IPL is usually suited to lighter to light-medium skin with sun spots, freckles, age spots, redness or visible small vessels. Your consultation confirms whether it is a good match for your skin.
-
Sun damage
Sun spots, age spots and freckles from years in the Florida sun.
-
Uneven pigmentation
Brown spots and blotchy-looking tone on the face and body.
-
Facial redness and rosacea
Redness and flushing, with a dedicated IPL rosacea treatment on our menu.
-
Visible small vessels
Broken capillaries and visible small vessels.
-
A single spot
A targeted IPL spot treatment for one area of concern.
-
Neck, chest, arms and hands
Sun-exposed areas beyond the face.
Not ideal for
A current tan, deeper skin tones or melasma generally call for a different approach; we will suggest alternatives.
When to wait
Recent sun exposure, light-sensitizing medications or pregnancy may mean postponing.
A consultation comes first. We assess your skin, review your medications and recent sun exposure, and discuss preparation, what to expect and pricing, so your provider can confirm whether IPL is a good match for you.
What to expect
Your IPL experience
-
Your consultation
We review your goals, skin, medications and recent sun exposure, explain preparation and expectations, and recommend your treatment areas.
-
Treatment day
New clients are asked to arrive about 15 minutes early to check in. Your provider treats the planned area; you may feel warmth and a quick snap with each pulse of light.
-
After treatment
Temporary pinkness, mild sensitivity, itchiness or swelling can occur and typically subsides within 24–48 hours. Treated pigment may look darker for a few days before it gradually flakes away.
Before your appointment
- Book an IPL consultation so we can assess your skin and confirm suitability.
- Tell your provider about medications, skin conditions and recent treatments.
- Let us know about recent sun exposure or tanning, and protect your skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
- New clients: arrive about 15 minutes early to check in and complete forms.
- Avoid tanning beds and self-tanner for several weeks before treatment, and mention antibiotics or anything else that increases light sensitivity.
After your appointment
Follow your provider’s aftercare instructions. Temporary pinkness, sensitivity, itchiness or swelling can occur, and treated spots may darken before they flake away. Protect treated skin from the sun with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Skip hot showers, saunas and workouts for about a day, and let darkened spots flake on their own.
Contact us at 941.739.5160 if you have a reaction or any concern after your treatment.
Sessions
How many IPL sessions do you need?
Many clients plan a series of about three to five IPL sessions, roughly four weeks apart, followed by maintenance once or twice a year to manage new sun damage.
| Concern | What many clients plan |
|---|---|
| A few sun spots | A short series, sometimes with spot treatments |
| Diffuse sun damage on face, neck or chest | A series of about 3 to 5 sessions |
| Redness and rosacea-prone skin | A series plus periodic maintenance |
Compare your options
IPL vs laser: which is right for sun spots and redness?
IPL treats brown and red tones across a broad area with filtered light; a laser uses one wavelength for a focused target. Organic Skin & Body offers IPL plus laser options, so your provider can recommend what fits your skin.

FAQ
IPL photofacial FAQs for Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch
Have a question that isn’t answered here? Call us at 941.739.5160.
What is an IPL photofacial?
An IPL photofacial uses intense pulsed light, delivered in pulses across a range of wavelengths rather than a single laser wavelength, to target pigment and small blood vessels in the skin. At Organic Skin & Body Medical Aesthetics in Bradenton, IPL is used for concerns such as sun damage, uneven pigmentation, facial redness and visible small vessels.
What can IPL help with?
IPL is used to reduce the appearance of sun spots, age spots, freckles and other sun damage, as well as facial redness, rosacea flushing, broken capillaries and visible small vessels. Our menu includes IPL for the full or partial face, cheeks, nose, sides, rosacea and single spots, and for the neck, chest, back, arms, hands and upper thighs. Individual results vary.
How much does an IPL photofacial cost in Bradenton?
IPL is priced per treatment by area. A single IPL spot treatment is $100, a partial-face photofacial $300 and a full-face photofacial $500. Body areas include both hands at $250, the neck at $300, the chest at $500 and the back at $800. ThreeForMe is $1,000 and Bright & Tight is $600 per treatment. Many clients plan a series, which your provider recommends at your IPL consultation.
What should I expect after IPL?
Temporary pinkness, mild sensitivity, itchiness or swelling can occur and typically subsides within 24–48 hours. Treated pigment may look darker for a few days before it gradually flakes away. Your provider will give you aftercare instructions, including sun protection.
What is ThreeForMe?
ThreeForMe combines IPL with 1540 nm non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing in one treatment plan, for clients who want to address several concerns such as pigmentation, facial redness, fine lines and texture. Your consultation covers whether it is suitable, the treatment process, expected recovery, the recommended series and pricing.
What is Bright & Tight?
Bright & Tight is a combination treatment on our menu that pairs IPL with Forma RF skin tightening. Your provider will explain whether it suits your goals at your consultation.
Do you offer IPL near Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota and Parrish?
Yes. IPL photofacials are offered at Organic Skin & Body Medical Aesthetics, 8523 State Road 70 E in Bradenton, FL 34211, in Manatee County. We welcome clients from Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, Parrish and nearby communities. Call 941.739.5160 to book your IPL consultation.
How many IPL sessions will I need?
Many clients plan a series of about three to five IPL sessions, roughly four weeks apart, then maintenance once or twice a year. Redness and rosacea-prone skin may need more visits than a few sun spots. Your provider recommends a plan at your IPL consultation.
What is the difference between IPL and laser?
A laser emits a single wavelength of light aimed at one target. IPL emits a broad spectrum of light, filtered for the concern, so it can address brown spots and redness across a wide area in the same session. Our office also has laser options, including the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus; ask at your consultation whether a laser may suit a particular spot or small vein.
Who should not get IPL?
IPL is generally not suited to tanned skin, deeper skin tones, melasma or recent sun exposure, and certain medications that increase light sensitivity may mean waiting. Your consultation reviews your skin, medications and sun habits before treatment.
Can I get IPL in the Florida summer?
Yes, with care. You will need to avoid tanning and protect treated skin with daily broad-spectrum sunscreen. Many Bradenton clients schedule IPL series in the cooler months, when sun exposure is easier to manage.
